How does Affiliate Marketing work?

Most online businesses want to increase their exposure on The Internet, and sell more of whatever they sell. An Affiliate Network is created, and they are paid commission whenever someone buys something online. The Affiliate Network exists to send visitors (web surfers) to online shops, services or dating sites in exchange for a cut of the earnings from sales made. So they encourage other sites to "link" to these business using coded links to track where the click came from.

Each Affiliate network has an army of "webmaster" who set up and operate their own websites. Some sites are small concerns, some are huge and well known names.

Webmasters are paid a share of the commission paid to the Affiliate Network.
